Oral Cancer Screening
When you go for your regular dental check up, dentist and hygienist are also screening you for any signs of oral cancer. Every hour of every day, someone dies of oral cancer in the United States. This serious dental disease which pertains to the mouth, lips or throat is often highly curable if diagnosed and treated in the early stages. Visiting your dentist for regular check ups and avoiding tobacco are the key factors in preventing oral cancer.

For a Healthy Mouth for Life follow these rules:
- Brush at least twice daily.
- Ask your dentist about assitive devices for oral care if you have manual dexterity issues.
- Rinse with water immediately after eating or drinking sugary foods.
- Have regular dental exams : recessed gums can lead to "root decay".
- Even if you wear dentures, make sure the soft tissues of your mouth are healthy.
- Inform your dentist of any medications you are taking or changes in your health.
- Ask your dentist how to deal with a dry mouth.
- Discuss all tooth-replacement options with your dentist to ensure that you amke an informes choice based on your health.
